I had an immense pleasure to meet Mr. Bruce Dickinson at the Ice Live Business Forum in Tampere, Finland, on January 31st. In our brief discussion, he and his agent were also informed of the MHM conference, ISMMS and the existence of metal studies in general. Hopefully this will lead to many good things regarding our event as well.
Bruce's excellent talk in the forum, in fact, covered many topics key to the MHM conference: serving the fans, managing global business, branding, innovation, creativity… while maintaining integrity in your operations. His examples ranged from touring the Globe with the Flight 666 to the recently developed Trooper beer. Iron Maiden as such is of course a first class case of nurturing the devoted fan base in the global markets by deliberate and well-thought practices and, by doing so, creating a prolonged and vital sub-culture that is one of the most significant ones in the entire history of heavy metal.
